Infant/Child CPR and Choking – Emergency Response Training

Infant CPR

Join us for a very important education for parents and non-parents alike. Learn preventive measures, how to detect a life threatening emergency for your baby or child and how to respond immediately.

CPR, or Cardiopulmonary resuscitation, is used on anybody who has stopped breathing or whose heart has stopped beating. Choking, drowning, or other unforeseen events can cause this emergency situation. Knowing what to do in an instant can save a life. This class will cover infant/pediatric/adult CPR, choking rescue and use of an AED, focusing extensively on prevention, child development and home safety. Hands-on training includes use of baby-size mannequins to demonstrate how to perform every aspect of CPR and choking response. This activity is for grown-ups only.

CPR CERTIFICATION is offered for those who have completed the class. Cost $10. Available for purchase day of class. The certification is offered through ASHI, American Safety and Health Institute and the certification card, good for 2 years, can be emailed to you post workshop. Our instructor Dana Lazarovitch Thompson is a perinatal registered nurse, Certified CPR training instructor and a local mom. Easy to follow take home class materials are included.

This class can be taken before having your baby or afterwards. Babies are welcome but not required. You will be practicing on mannequins. We find it is harder for parents to concentrate on the class material with their babies present in class.
If you do bring your little one, we ask that you bring a blanket for your baby and dress comfortably as you will be working down on the padded ground. Also we ask that you be prepared to take off your shoes for class.

We keep our workshops small in size and pre-registration is required. We kindly request that any additional parent or care provider should be related to the original sign up parent/child – $40 for additional partner. A parent or care provider of a different child will need to register separately. This activity is for grown-ups only.

** We have various forms of comfortable seating – please come dressed in casual comfortable clothes as part of the class is spent low to the ground. Please be prepared to remove your shoes in our studio classroom.

** In order to keep the studio as a clean class room space we do ask that food be consumed in our down stairs seating area. Close container drinks are permitted and encouraged upstairs.

We recommend expecting parents take all four core prenatal education classes (Childbirth Preparation, Breastfeeding Essentials, and Newborn Care and Infant CPR).
