Learn how to make natural, hot process soap from scratch. This class will teach you the fundamentals of making natural soap at home, and how to safely work with sodium hydroxide (also known as lye.) Note: Due to the nature of working with lye, this class is age restricted to those 16 years old and older.

This is a demonstration style class, where you will observe the instructor go through all the steps of creating a batch of hot process soap. Safety equipment will be provided (safety goggles & rubber gloves), but please wear long sleeved shirts, pants, and closed toe shoes—no shorts, sandals, flip-flops, etc.
You’ll leave the class with a tutorial with thorough information to make hot process soap on your own at home, and additional recipes to use.

(The Handmade Academy is located in the back of the Delores Apartment building through the alley entrance. You can enter the alley either on the west side from Rainier Ave South, or the east from 39th Ave S. Access from the front of the building is closed off, so be sure to use the alley to get to the studio entrance.)
