Cut and Prong Set a Cabochon

Date: Sun 9/14

Cab Cutting: 11am-2pm Teacher: Lanny Kittleson

Prong Setting: 3-6pm Teacher: Samantha Slater

Price: $120 + approx $20 materials fee

Part One:

Learn the art of cutting stone! Lanny will teach you how to turn a rough stone into a shaped and formed cabochon ready to use in jewelry or for your display cabinet. For your first stone you will learn to cut an agate into an oval shape.

Part Two:

Sam will teach you how to create a prong setting out of sterling silver, which you will then make into a pendant using the cabochon you cut in the previous class!

Please bring cash or checkbooks as there is a $17 materials fee made payable to Samantha. There will be an approx $3-5 charge for the rock slab you pick out to cut. Please arrive a few minutes early to pick that out at the NW Rockhounds shop. Feel free to bring a sack lunch as there will be a break.

If you cancel, we need 7 days notice for a refund or to reschedule.

We may cancel a class from time to time and we will do so within two or three days before the start of the class.

NW Rockhounds Education Center

The NW Rockhounds Education Center serves as a hub for the NW Rockhounds community and the greater North Seattle area. The Education Center holds monthly classes in a variety of artistic mediums such as beginning and advanced Lapidary, Silversmithing and Jewelry Making as well as lectures and seminars in rockhounding and conservation education.
