Ages: 18 & up

Learn the basics of making an open-link chain without soldering. Use fine silver and a butane torch to create necklaces, bracelets and earrings. You’ll shape and pound rings to give your pieces an organic look. Materials can be purchased at the shop prior to class. All the tools you’ll need to use will be provided. This class is a fun introduction to the world of silversmithing.

Materials needed (available for purchase at NW Rockhounds): Please come a few minutes early to purchase.

  • 1 ounce 14 gauge Fine Silver
  • 1 foot 24 gauge Fine Silver for making balled headpins

If you cancel, we need 7 days notice for a refund or to reschedule.

We may cancel a class from time to time and we will do so within two or three days before the start of the class.

NW Rockhounds Education Center

The NW Rockhounds Education Center serves as a hub for the NW Rockhounds community and the greater North Seattle area. The Education Center holds monthly classes in a variety of artistic mediums such as beginning and advanced Lapidary, Silversmithing and Jewelry Making as well as lectures and seminars in rockhounding and conservation education.
